Pre-Purchase FAQ
This is the most commonly asked questions I get, as it pertains to the C5 Corvette TripLED's sleepy eye headlights.
- Q: Do I need any additional parts as seen under the "replacement parts" tab, with the purchase of my kit? A: No, the kit itself comes with all you need. The only additional option to "add" is the resistor. The kit comes with all you need.
- Q: Is the kit price for one headlight or two headlights/pair? A: It comes with 2...a complete pair. Yes, other headlight kits cost 800-1400, but due to KnightDriveTV's in-house development and the fact we manufacturer over 60% of the kit in-house, our costs of development and production are much lower than companies who outsource entirely.
- Q: What's the warranty? A: 1yr on the light pods themselves, and 4yrs on the components manufactured by me. Replacement parts and product updates do occur, which will guarantee the longevity of the kit. As I point out in other areas of the Mother-FAQ'er here, we have gone through design evolutions, and older buyers/users can update to those newer components very affordably, if they choose, thus renewing warranty periods, etc.
- Q: Can you change the halo color to yellow or red, etc? A: In 2024, we are planning on releasing RGB/cell phone controllable HALO lights, so whatever color you want, will be possible.
- Q: Will my square kit fit the rounds or the round kit fit squares, if I want to change? A: Yes, the kits are cross compatible. If you own one kit and want to switch lights, you can. Upgrade/changover options have only been limited by a 3yr ongoing supply struggle though. We have established a new lighting partner for 2024 though, so these options will be opening up.
- Q: If I lose or need any replacement parts, can I purchase them? A: Yes, the replacement parts tab has all components as needed. Be aware, that if your replacement part order doesn't indicate you are a buyer of a light system, your order could be delayed. We have had people attempt to buy all the replacement parts, but not the lights themselves, and cheaply assemble their own ghetto ass kit. We monitor all replacement part orders closely. If in doubt, we'll email you for clarification, otherwise, your order will ship as expected.
- Q: I have the hyperflash harness for my corner/taillight LED's, so do I still need the resistor for the headlights? A: Yes, the headlights are on a different circuit, with a different controller. The headlights being changed to LED present an issue for the controller, which keep them from retracting and shutting off properly. For this reason, if you don't run the resistor, you'll need to go to HIGH beams first, then shut off directly from high beam mode. Inversely, you can run the resistor, and it'll add load to the system, allowing retraction and shutdown to happen normally.
- Q: Is the resistor plug and play or a permanent part of the headlights? A: It's plug and play and is added to the low beam. It's optional if you run it or not, so adding it when in doubt, allows you to choose on your end.
- Q: I see the kit only comes with on resistor, don't I need two? A: No, one resistor on the low beam circuit is enough. Generally we run the resistor on the drivers side.
- Q: With 6 lights, how do the high and low beams work? A: In low beam mode, the 2 outer lights on each side are lit, then in high beam, all 6 are on. This "all 6 on high" is accomplished with a relay that is included in your kit. If the relay doesn't work, you will have 4 on low and 2 on high beam, which is incorrect. See the troubleshooting section to resolve that issue.
- Q: What makes the headlights stop at a lower height? A: A stop system, which is shown in the installation video creates resistance, which is sensed by the controller. This is how the factory system functions. If there is any incorrect function, reopening or uncontrollable problems, see the troubleshooting section, as this is an indication your headlight motor gears have problems.
- Q: I have the "frog eyes" headlight kit and the previous owner disposed of all the parts. Does your kit replace everything I need to function again? A: No, my headlight kit replaces the headlights only. You'll need your OEM motors, headlight control module, headlight doors, adjusters and the assembly it all connects to. My headlights replace the OEM square large headlights ONLY. I will have a kit releasing in 2024 which gets rid of the ugly frog eyes and every kit like it ever made. The C5 isn't a C6, so I will design a fixed kit which accentuates the C5 in a new and exciting way!
